The Mariners Make Me Happy, Vol. 362 June 11, 2007

First, apparently Mike Hargrove (“Grover”) calls Jose Lopez, “Lopey”. It’s like he’s an eighth dwarf, or perhaps an original one in the Spanish-language version.

Second, the Mariners play in Cleveland today to make up yet another game from April when they were snowed out for four straight games. What does Ichiro have to say about it?

To tell the truth, I’m not excited to go to Cleveland, but we have to. If I ever saw myself saying I’m excited going to Cleveland, I’d punch myself in the face, because I’m lying.

Seriously. I lurve him.

Third, they swept the Padres (or as the annoying SD announcers sometimes called them, “The Friars.” Listen, your mascot is already weird–no need to make some sort of English-only political statement, dude). They are on pace for a 91-win season. They are keeping pace with the annoying Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, Orange County Which is in California Which is the Original Place Name Attributed to Them.

Go M’s!

…and now they’ve just pulled out their fourth absolutely ridiculous win in a row. If they had a half way deccent DH and, you know, another good power arm in the bullpen, they might almost be, you know, really good.
